Default 97 Explorer no oil pressure

Wednesday on my way home from work, my oil pressure gauge bottomed out. I pulled into a parking lot and looked underneath my vehicle to find a substantial amount of engine oil underneath. I got my vehicle towed home.

I replaced the oil pressure sensor and oil pump while doing an oil change while I was at it and i still have no oil pressure. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you replaced the oil pump, I would look to see just how that pump is driven.

I haven't been able to find anything on the OHV engine in my Explorer only the SOHC.

I bought a manual oil pressure gauge test kit and it shows that I have within the proper range oil pressure, on the old 97's, would it cause any issues installing a manual oil pressure gauge on my dash, and bypass the computer? Or should I keep trying to get the sensor to work?

It would be cheaper and less work to replace the oil pressure sending unit now that you know the pressure itself is good.

what if it turns out to be wiring? I hate wiring issues. I suck at fixing wiring issues. I despise the thought of trying to track down a wiring issue.

The toughest wiring issue here would be to unhook the one wire on the old sending unit , replace it and plug or place the wire back on.
