Default AC only vents through defrost vents.

2008 mariner mostly used as second vehicle, may go for weeks without driving. Everything was working a few months ago, then turned on AC in February in Florida, when we heard a loud rattle from the blower motor. Found a dehydrated dead mouse in the blower, cleaned and replaced blower motor. Ever since all air blows from the defrost vents, but didn’t notice until a week or so later. Could it be related?
PROBLEM FIXED !! It seems there was apparently some dead bug debris stuck in between the foam and the mounting area. Thanks!

Usually as a built in safety feature when there is a loss of vacuum to controls the system is supposed to default to defrost mode. Might be a good idea to look for a broken or damaged vacuum hose coming from the engine to the inside of the vehicle.

So if the foam at the top of the blower motor install area wasn’t positioned correctly, could that be a possible cause? Thanks

You know,, after getting burned "many times" I believe it would not be wise to say either yes or no without looking for myself.

The suggestion I have offered was based on my past experience, but not all cases are the same.
