1985 F150 Fuel Problem. Please help!!
#21
I returned the valve this morning because it was already returned by somebody else before I bought it (it was their only one in stock but it was unused), and the packaging was all screwed up, so I figured if I get one that hasn't been previously bought I will get some info with it. The new one already came and it did come with a diagram of how to wire the new connector. So all I really need now is to know where my existing wires are going. I have one diagram that may be right that's for an 86, but I think it should be the same. Id like to find one more just to confirm that it is right. Here's a pic of the wires that are already on my truck. I just have to be sure to hook the wires on the right spot of the new pigtail because all the wires on the pigtail are black, not color coated.

So, with the research I've done, and help from multiple forums, this is what I have come up with. Let me know if you think I'm wrong. Here's a diagram from a valve the same as mine, a diagram of existing wires, and a picture I edited in paint of where I think my existing wires go (after I get the connector of coarse).

there should be a fuel filter on the drivers side back along the frame ! my 96 has it there ! maybe the regulator went to lunch or maybe the throttle body needs to be cleaned out ! someplace on your truck should be a in-line fuel filter because my truck has duel tanks and the filter sits right under the drivers floor board !

i have a 96 ford f-150 with duel tanks and the filter is under the drivers side along the frame ! is there a splice in the line? i am thinking maybe someone before you took the filter off and put a piece of metal line or hose between the line ! it has to have a filter someplace or dirt would get into the injectors or carburetor ! maybe the filter is in the tank or closer to the engine !

if there is no in-line filter then someone took it off ! my 96 has a in-line filter along the frame on the drivers side ! if you can,t find a filter then cut the fuel line, get a filter and 2 pieces of fuel injection hoses and 4 small screw clamps ! if there is no way of filtering the gas then dirt can get into the injectors ! also check the fuel regulator on the fuel rail, it might be bad ! pull the hose off of it and check for gas ! there should be no gas in the vacuum hose !

Im going to a friends in a couple hours to wire/install the new valve, and for the filters, im adding one to each tank. Between the selector valve and the tanks. The valves warranty is void if I dont have them there. As Ive said before Bandit, that year, most of them didnt have them. They changed it in 1986, I have a 1985. Your truck is 11 years newer so of course yours is different. Ill let you guys know if I get the wiring right later on. Thanx for all the help
