Default 1986 f150 keeps dying

My 1986 f150 has a 300 straight 6. Sometimes when I drive it, itll do fine. But like yesterday I get driving down the road and all the sudden it just shuts off. No chugging no spitting nothing just quits. If I wait about 45 seconds itll start back up and go again. Anybody got any ideas what to try or check?

Welcome to the site..

Possibly ignition/spark related, if you can have a simple spark tester on the ready, and check it during an event, it may point towards an issue and help rule out other stall potentials. Generally fuel starvation issues cause stall symptoms you noted.. If spark proves to be dropping out, id first be suspect of the module. Module can be tested prior to a replacement.. Quite a few parts houses have testers on site.. Could be other components, connections etc. but one of the symptoms of module failure is a heated module fails, then after some cooling the engine restarts..
