I have a few multimeters, the check engine light isnt on. It does turn on when you start the truck and youre in the run position. So the check engine light works.
the dizzy isn't vacuum advance. It only has a tone ring and the associated magnet and circuitry in it and then the icm plugs into the bottom of it.

Not every problem will cause the C/E light to illuminate.
There can be a code or codes in the ECA that will not cause the light to come on. See if you can get them.
This is where the challenge comes in , and once you determine what is going on the fix might be easier than we think.
Is there any associated crap in the dist near that pick up assy ? Rust , metalic junk ?

I strongly felt like this was a ecm issue back in 3rd week of april after trying the icm and a new coil. I ran through the map sensor test and I did check the fuel pressure but that was all in deference to not wanting the customer to have to buy an ecm. Turns out it was 100% the ecm. Popped a remanned ecm in and poof truck works. I wasted so much time testing all this other stuff when my gut told me from the start that if a new coil and a new icm didnt fix it it would be the ecm.
