2000 F-150 Misfire
Hello Folks; New member here ! Long time Ford fan ! Currently own 2 Rangers and 1 F-150 XLT. I recently bought a 2000 F-150 with 5.4ltr 2 valve. I notice a miss on the way home. I have FORScan but I'm not real versed in using it. Initially I found 2 misfires, #6 & #8, changing the spark plugs fixed the #8 miss. But did nothing for #6, so I replaced the injector, this had no effect. By the way truck came with a set of coils, and the previous owner had replaced #6 & #8 coils, any help would be Greatly Appreciated !! More than willing to do any diagnosing with the FORScan that is needed, just let me know how and where to look ! Thank you for your time and reading of this thread! Ask any questions you wish and I'll answer to the best of my ability! As always any Help is Appreciated !!
Thanks in advance; Ray

Hi Ray,
Is this miss on cyl # 6 a constant miss or intermittent misfire?
You didn't state the mileage, which is important to know.
If it is a constant miss, you might consider performing a compression check so we have an idea of engine condition before wasting a lot f time and effort chasing something we can't do anything about.
If compression is close for all cyls, we can move on to other checks. Can we do this ?

LOL mileage is 300,000+, miss is constant. Compression check is doable, will have to buy a gauge. Since I'm not looking for a lifetime product or to start a business, how about this.> https://www.harborfreight.com/quick-...ter-62622.html < ? I have a Harbor Freight local to me. Thanks for quick response.

Hanky ; Sorry for the slow response time I work 3rd shift and spend most of my time sleeping, LOL ! As far as the comp. gauge my old was gave up the ghost a long time ago and since I'm not very active since my stroke (02'27'23) it still wouldn't hurt to have a new one. Now all I need to do is get a couple of decent weather while I'm not working.
