2001 F150 engine swap
Hey everyone
im in need of help and asking for advice. I’m planning on changing the engine on my 2001 F 150
I don’t want the 5.4 v8 anymore. Was thinking with going with the new coyote engine. My buddy told me I can put a mustang GT engine in it. What engine does everyone recommend. Will the GT engine fit? Will the new f150 model engine fit? I don’t know much about changing engines and I have searched around the web for answers. I never get any actual details of what needs to change to fit the engines. Family and friends telling me to sell it and get a new one but the truck holds to much sentimental value and no one will give me enough for it. I want to change the engine and trophy truck it (street legal). The triton engine isn’t enough power haha. Any advice? I’m all ears. I’m a rookie to this

My first question is does your state have any vehicle emission inspection requirements ?
If so you are somewhat limited as to just what you might be able to change, that your $$$$ reserves don't get eaten up.
As you know Ford like all manufacturers does incorporate mid year changes and some engines from an identical vehicle early production may not be compatible with the same year late production. Engines just like vehicles will have different computer operation strategies and this can get pretty complicated and sometimes can defy the best of efforts. There are folks that have done some drastic changes and managed, but this can get pretty expensive and your finances may or may not be able to handle that.
Let's see what other recommendations come up and maybe there is an easier way to do what you would like.
