2016 f150 non turbo
Starting problems it does start but lags and dash goes hay wire for a few seconds. Took it to dealer and they said battery and altanater is good but starter is only putting out 11 volts so I replaced starter myself cause warranty is out cause of mileage has 75,000 on it I've cleaned battery terminals and ground terminals all though they did not need it so didn't make any differnce any ideas would be greatful
If what you are trying to say is, ,,,,,when cranking you measure 11 volts at the battery when it should be reading around 9-10 volts , is this correct?
If so, all it means is, there is hi resistance in the starter or solenoid or connections otherwise the voltage measured at the starter would be more like 9+ volts.
If the starter and connections are good and clean the other possibility is the cables could have internal corrosion and should be replaced..
Also , make sure to check and clean all the grounds from the negative post that go to the sheet metal and other parts of the truck.
There may also be a junction connection on the driver's side fender well that contains the output connection coming from the alternator and goes to the positive post of the battery. may be covered if there and gets exposed to the elements and can become corroded preventing full power from the alt getting to the battery .You know you are going to have to allow the vehicle to idle a while without touching the throttle pedal after starting when you reconnect the battery cables. This will allow the computer to
reset some the memory it lost with a battery disconnect., (radio stations etc will need to be reset manually.)
There is a hi resistance in a connection supplying power/ground to the rest of the vehicle and that is why the dash goes south when a load is placed on the electrical system.
