There could be a lot of reasons for the oil level to go down and jumping off the deep end is not always the smart thing to do.

A good independent shop should be able to determine why and then help make a decision from there.

Service bulletins should always be checked to save some time and trouble , but just assuming it is a common problem does no one any good.
The real problem is trying to find somebody that knows and is willing to do a thorough diagnosis. Lots of luck there !
