Default 4r70w transmission

Does anybody know if the internal wiring harness of the transmission would keep it from fully engaging in gear if some of the wire is exposed

If you see something that is out of place or not normal [bare wire(s) ] , smart move to repair that first to eliminate that as a possible problem that could have you chasing around for something else . If it is corrected ,then you know it cannot be the problem.

The wiring is the only thing that I have not replaced in the transmission

Valve bodies were troublesome. Did you open it up for the same reason?

Electrical/electronics can be funny sometimes and do things we would not expect. so we usually don't let a "possible future problem" go and hope it will not cause any problems up the road. The old saying still goes, "Do it right and do it once". Let us know how it works out for you. Appears you are doing it right !!!
