Hey there first time posting on this forum, I have a 2017 f150 xl 5.0L. it is a retired border patrol truck, and has what I assume to be electrical issues. Since when I bought the truck it was full of cut wires from where lights and sirens used to be hooked up.

I have recently lost power steering completely. This truck has electric power steering. Symptoms were at first, slight loss in power steering, and steering wheel would stay at angle it was turned without returning to center. (You could turn the steering wheel let go and do a complete circle) then later that same day power steering went completely.

Next issue is that the truck stalls while at low rpms, has below average fuel economy, is slow to accelerate. And possibly also related to this issue, the truck gets stuck in gears.

Does anyone know what might be going on? Any advice is appreciated 👍

At this point in time I am looking at replacing vct solenoids, cam shaft sensors, crank shaft position sensor, and the intake manifold runner control valve.

Before replacing anything Suggest you check those systems for something that you might easily see is wrong.
