engine hard to turn
my 97 f150 173000 mls wont start.drove to a meeting there for 3hrs came out wont start thought was starter check starter found to be good tried to bar engine over with breaker bar and could turn engine but was extremly tight anyone had this problem with the 4.6.is this a common problem happening with engine and what is happening with engine.please help forum family.
The starter solenoid is clicking right? How did you rule out the starter. Any theft lights on?
Ideally, for any starting problem you should rule out the battery first.
I don't want you to get ahead of yourself. If you have hand cranked alot of engines over and know what a tight enging feels like proceed in that direction. If your not sure what tight is, lets start from the beginning.
if your sure its tight, the battery and starter are good and no theft lights are on...remove all the plugs, pull the fuel pump fuse, disconnect the coil connectors and see if it cranks over....maybe its hydrolocked?
the only time i had a seized engine...i had someone turn the key to start while I was checking power to the starter solenoid. The starter actually puffed smoke. When i hand cranked the crankpulley bolt with my breaker bar i couldn't even budge it.
