Default F-150 V-6 Power

I was looking on the internet at a 1999 Ford F-150 XLT with the 4.2L V-6. Is this engine somewhat refined and smooth? How is the power? I am not looking to haul much or pull anything at all.

Hello I have a 1999 ford F150 XLT V-6, 5 speed extended cab. The engine runs strong and smooth shifts with no problem decent pick-up speed on the highway. The power is good for just normal everyday driving it does not accelarate very fast but once you get it up to speed it goes. As far as towing it is fine on a level surface but when you climb a hill towing something such as a car it is horrible. No power at all. But for what you are going to use it for the truck will do just fine, as long as you don't plan on towing cars with it.

Our old Dealership parts truck was a 1998 4.2L automatic 2wd and it had 198,000 miles one it before we got the new one. If you do not plan to tow, then you will be fine
