Ignition off/on at full stops in order to save gas
Read somewhere Ford is going to start offering the ignition on/off feature as an option. It will no longer be a standard feature. I guess it will save on micro chip usage because there are those who don’t want to use it and are miffed by the requirement you have to lock it out each time you start the truck, so, if is an option, custom builds don’t need to come with the feature. My question is why they didn’t make it a software or firmware switch that can be programmed over-the-air? As it stands now, it won’t be removed if you already have your truck, which I do. (I believe there is an aftermarket kit that allows for it to be permantly turned off but it costs.)
Myself, I will keep it. My F-150 XLT 5.0 L 36 gal gas tank got better mileage than my new 2021 Lariat 5.0 L 36 gal gas tank… by about 5 miles! (It’s like I ordered a 26 gal gas tank instead of the 36 gal one-I’m measuring gas consumption by my number of fill-up visits per week which is about once per week. I let it go to half a tank and top it off.) So I need all the help I can get. I wonder about aftermarket performance chips also but know nothing about them-don’t want to void any warranty's. And the new one isn’t “broken in” yet, if that means anything anymore-maybe as it applies to the vehicle needing to spend a couple of months learning my driving habits. We shall see.
