Hi, Does My dads old 1998 f150 4.2 motor went bad. We are trying to get a replacement but what year will fit on that??? With the leat amount of headaches?

 

proably the 10th generation f150s with the same motor. i think that is 97-2003. if you change the motor size you will have to change a lot of other things too.

 

from what i have read, the 4.2 has had a ton of problems. if you are determined to replace the motor, i would find a 5.4. there seems to be a lot less issues with this motor. if you dont believe me, just look at most of the problems on this forum, they seem to be more from the 4.2.
