Default replace clutch

If I can get this picture to download I am having a problem where to locate this larger single fork. It does not want to engage into the gears in the lower part of the tranny and that is the only place it can go. Also what gear or should I have the the shift tower in neutral. I can see where the one rear fork goes but not the front one. There is a close up of the front part where the front fork is supposed to go.

The two large forks,,,

1/2 fork is the horseshoe flat tipped looking fork and slides down into the slider gear within the collared wide groove..
The 3/4 fork installs/fits over the top of the 3/4 slider that looks like a large disk separating
the syncros.
The smaller long armed fork is the ‘reverse idler’. The idler is pinned in the case and the gear can ‘slip’ or move a bit while trying to reinstall the shift cover. Generally the forks should be in neutral position, and the two larger forks align fairly easy (making sure the 1/2 Gear is in the correct position to mate with the fork ) and easily seen as the 3/4 fork aligns/drops into place. The reverse idler can be seen from the left/rear of the top case opening. When installing the shift cover, usually a slight tip of the cover to the drivers side is needed to start the long fork on down. Usually just eyeballing the 1/2 and reverse idler positions are correct is all that’s needed. You may need to slightly move either gear prior to get the cover to drop on.. Once in place, a few bolts tightened and a shifter ops check...

Still having a problem getting this installed. The longer single fork is keeping me from getting the other two to lined up. The shift tower should be in neutral right? I am within a 1/2 inch of getting the other two lined up but the longer single fork just does not allow it?? Is there something I can do with the gears in the lower half of the tranny?

Sounds like the reverse idler fork isn’t dropping into the gears groove. You might try putting the shifter in to reverse, moving the idler/reverse gear into reverse position and try an install.

Ok. Will try that. With all this jostling of the shift tower the old brittle gasket is now in pieces. Week or so before I can get a new one. Will post back when I can. Thanks.

Still having problems getting the shift tower to seat. I think I may be be inserting the shift stick wrong. I am attaching some pictures. I have been inserting the shift stick into the open area. When I do that I can shift it but it is rough and I cannot tell any movement of the forks. There is a piston like rod to the left of the pictures and I wonder if that is where the shift stick should go. Gasket got lost in transit so I have to wait.
