Default squeak coming from steering wheel/column

please help...i have a 2003 F-150 4x4 and recently the steering wheel started to squeak like a mouse when making turns, right or left. i called the dealership, and the guy i talked to suggested it was the power steering pump, the noise is not the whine a power steering pump makes. any suggestions?

There is a bearing under the steering wheel that could be the culprit, but there is so much plastic and moving contacts under there that it may require the steering wheel to be removed to determine the exact cause.
