Won't start after short trip
I have a 1977 F159 Custom with 300 6 cylinder automatic
Of a morning I get in and push the gas pedal once and it starts right up.
I drive 3 miles to store and park while I get what I'm after.
Now it won't start. Seems flooded.
If I remove the air filter and hold open the the intake for a short time and then start it with the pedal to the floor it eventually starts.
The rest of the day it start and runs fine.
I have had this problem 3 times in the last week or so and it is always when I stop and shut it off.
Any ideas why it is fine first thing in the morning and the rest of the day but not after a short 3 mile drive of the morning?

Could be 2 things.
First automatic.choke is not opening fully once warmed up That could be an adjustment or the choke is not receiving heat to cause it to open . If it is electrically heated the electric heat part may be faulty.
Second , there is a vacuum operated choke pull off that either is not working or is not adjusted properly. That pull off is supposed to open the choke to the proper setting once a cold engine is started.
It has been a while since working on carburetors, but when worn parts are replaced and adjusted properly they work just fine.
