$400 truck need help.
Hello new here don稚 know if I知 even posting this in the right place. Anyway bought a 95 f250 with a 5.0 2wd the guy I got it from said he parked it 8yrs ago because it needed a transmission. I got it put all new brake lines on it not by choice but because once I fixed one another blew. Then a full tune up. They guy we got it from had another truck with the e40d in it and said if we pulled the motor we can have the transmission. So we did that now that the transmission is in with a new TC and fresh fluid it痴 doing the exact same thing it was doing. It was go in drive and reverse. When you drive it値l hold first abnormally long then hard shift to 2nd. It値l also down shift but jerk you. The gauge cluster has no odometer reading and no speedo. I checked all the fuses and they are good. I知 just wondering if it really is a coincidence or is something else wrong. At this point I知 completely ok with buying Tannerite and blowing the whole thing.
I'm no expert but I'd bet the instrument panel is the problem. The computer that runs the trans will pick vehicle speed readings from the cluster. Late /hard shift is classic sign of a trans not receiving VSS (or governor) input
I agree it could be the cluster since he is getting no readings, but if the speed sensor info is not getting to the cluster, then what?
Scan tool may not show the info we want because 95 was a transition year and OBDII was not required yet.
Speed sensor signal should be verified and if present , then I would agree could be cluster
A lot cheaper changing a speed sensor than a cluster if we have no way to verify..
