Default 1994 F250 trailer wiring, HELP

Hi, I've read somewhere that there are 2 plugs under the hood that0 will feed the trailer brake wiring. I can find 1 round plug near the main power center that has 4 conductors. i'm putting in a brake controller and need some help. Also, I have a 6 pin round trailer plug and it is only getting turn signal power, I bought an adapter to change from 6 pin to 7 blade. I also plugged in the brake controller to the connector under the mid section of the dash and it makes the controller lite up. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
