Default 2006 6.0 diesel xl electrical or fuel system issue

I currently have an issue with losing power to my instrument cluster intermittently. I've changed batteries. Sometimes after starting, idle is fine, but when I try to apply gas, i get the jerking feeling I'm about to run out of fuel, but I know I have about 1/2 tank. And at moment, power to dashboard is out. Instrument cluster, computer, fuel pump, injectors, FICM (again?), something else?

It's the original factory installed cap. Last week the problem finally threw 2 codes. 1) communication failure to instrument cluster. 2)low fuel sensor - and I had 3/8 - 1/2 tank at the time.
Possibility is the communication failure threw the low fuel code. I have appointment Wednesday

It is possible the instrument cluster has a problem, not uncommon.
Since the cluster is part of the network very likely resulting in communication failure.

That's what I read somewhere. My truck is a 2006. An article said instrument cluster problems were common from 2005-2007 in the 250's, 350's, trucks, vans and expeditions

If possible, see if you can have the computer checked for any codes.

In the process of doing that , if the system will not or not allow the network to communicate there may be a problem in the instrument cluster or one of the other modules thereby blocking communication. Other than checking for loose /corroded connections a good scan tool will be required to get deeper into the system.
Are there any "add on" items on this vehicle?
