If it is not too much trouble , could you tell us what firing order you presently have on the engine?

After you changed the firing order, Is that when you noticed it wouldn't go over 3000 RPM ?

Did you unplug the SPOUT connector when you set the base timing and where did you set the base timing, how many degrees BTDC ?

I set it to 10° btdc and advanced it until the engine ran its best. The firing order I have is 13726548. I only noticed the lack of revs when it wasn't misfiring, spitting and running like crap like it was before. Also running the engine with the spout connector disconnected makes no difference to rpm

To set the timing on your engine,
You unplug the spout connector, then start the engine and set the base timing to what the spec calls for. Shut the engine down, then plug the spout connector back together.
Timing is controlled by the ign module and computer.
NEVER
unplug the spout connector when the engine is running , that could destroy the ign module.

i was checking my timing today with a timing light, spout unplugged, and the timing was retarding with rpm up until its "rev limiter" then jumped erratically all over.

its also set to 12° advance at idle. That retards to below tdc right before the timing tweaks out

If the base timing is set correctly and it still has problems, I would consider another ign module and ECA.

Default Fix

The ignition cylinder is broken and was telling my ignition box that i was cranking all the time, retarding timing. Cutting the 3rd wire down on the distributors connector fixed it
