Alternator not charging battery
Hey guys how are you I'm new to the forum so here is the run down I have a 2001 f250 5.4 I got a touch screen radio for Christmas and I was installing it when I connected a ground wire to a hot wire I don't know where my head was but yea so I had a mini dash fire and melted through a few wires and then my alternator won't charge my battery so I fixed the melted wires and bought a new alternator and still nothing then I bought a new battery nothing I checked the fusible link it was good but I replaced it bought New connectors for the alternator still nothing and I'm really stumped I'd really appreciate the help
Always a good place to start,
Check all the fuses, both under the hood and under the dash..Instead of pulling fuses and possibly putting them back in the incorrect place a simple test lite provides a quick visual check without removing fuses. All you do is connect the ground clip to a good ground then just touch both ends of each fuse right on the top opening. If power is there both sides should lite. Some fuses don't have power unless the key is in the on position. Until we check the fuses w don't really know what we have.
