Default help with identifying

im new to the mechanic world and yesterday i looked under the hood just to check some stuff out and noticed there was a hose not connected to anything, can someone please tell me what this is, and maybe were the hose should be? 1988 f250 lariat with a 460

you gotta identify what you've got there.Right now it's sorta like expecting an answer for the color green on the richter scale.What's your vehicle,year,model,etc.

did this truck have factory installed cruise control?...this control is a vacuum operated control,but tell us more about it.Does it have any identification numbers stamped onto it?...

there is only one hose, ther other hose like object is actually set up to power? or grounded, i will have to go look for the number, i bought the truck used from a mechanic, the truck does have cruise control and i have used it before, but my guess is the hose wase never coneccted at the other end the whole time i have owend it.

it could always be a breather hose!
