Cool I have two (2) bolts leftover

I have a 1996 F-250 Ext Cab 4x4 with 7.3 L PSD and E4OD. I removed the transmission after running it out of oil in Oct 2020, had it rebuilt and am just now July 2021 finishing it up to drive again. Yea, I know. What's my hurry? Well I now have two (2) extra bolts, they appear to be 5/16", 18 threads x 1 1/2" long. They have a golden tint to them, threaded all the way and appear to possible have never seize on the end and they have a flange like a washer as part of the head.

Here's what I did install: 6 bolts in bell housing, 6 nuts on torque converter, 5 bolts on flywheel cover, 1 bolt holding the upper section of dip stick tube, 3 bolts on starter, 2 bolts on transfer case shifter lever, 2 bolts on transmission cable bracket, 2 bolts on MLPS Range Sensor Neutral Safety Switch, 6 bolts on transfer case to tail shaft on transmission, 4 bolts on rear drive shaft to transfer case, 2 bolts on carrier bearing and the "U" bolts for front and rear drive shafts, total of three (3) two for front and one for rear.

Any help where these
5/16", 18 threads x 1 1/2" long bolts go, besides in the "bolt bin", would help.

I don't know the answer to your concern, but it reminded me of what we used to do to a new man with a lengthy job.

Once in a while we would drop an extra bolt in the pile that was not organized, and just wait to see what would happen.
We all have been that guy at one time or another..
And the barber didn't charge any less because we had less hair !

Ground wires maybe?

Thanks for the reply. However, I am the only one that was near the pile of bolts and I don't recall adding an extra to the pile. I am normally very good with puzzles, this one has me at a loss at the moment.

Well I found where the two bolts go that I had left over. There is a bracket on top of the transmission that holds the wiring going to the right side of the transmission. I removed those two (2) bolts that hold the bracket and when it came to reinstalling the bracket I thought that the bracket went on the bolts that secure the transfer case to the tail shaft of the transmission. I was wrong the bracket goes onto the tail shaft housing of the transmission. Therefore that is where my extra bolts went.

Maybe this will help someone in the future. Have a good day, mine is better now.
