Problem after problem
Driveshaft didn’t hit anything important. I thought about water so I lit one of the pieces of paper from the plug well. It burned so good it took me a while to stamp it out. What I can’t figure out is a day after I disconnected the fuel rail the #8 cylinder was full of fuel, where did it come from? Also does anyone know the correct fuel pressure? Google search says 25-42 psi.
Thanks to everyone for their help.

Press should be between 35-45 psi for 5.4 engine.
Can you do this, see if that return line is not restricted ?
Are we sure the fuel pump is not running when the key is off?
If the injectors are defective and stick open partially the residual pressure could find a way to push out the fuel.
Why the original fuse opened ,the white smoke, are questions that need an answer. The 04 s, did have head gasket problems..
Can you do a compression test and verify there are no compression problems ?

- I remove fuel pump fuse when engine is off just to make sure of that. When fuel pump is running I can hear the return fuel dumping into the tank. The fuse I’m assuming the orig. fuel pump locked up.(maybe) When I put in the 2nd set of injectors, the white smoke cleared right up. I’m assuming the fist set wasn’t the right part number(neither set of injectors had a part number on the injector itself). I’m going to do compression test since all the plugs are out. May not have a chance to work on it today, but I’ll report back when I do.
