side mirror cover replacement
I got my mirror clipped the other day. Got the new cover today from my dealer, 105.00, which includes the amber turn signal lense. I dont have a clue how to remove the old cover. The parts guy said you just pull it off and the new ones snaps right in. Now i know its not as easy as he makes it sound. Has anybody done this before and have any tips?

RE: side mirror cover replacement
This may help..
Exterior Mirror Cover — Integral Turn Signal
Removal and Installation
NOTE: Part of the exterior mirror glass not shown for clarity.
NOTE: The small overlap ledge between the case front and the case rear can be used to prevent the clip from returning to the clipped position.
Tilt the exterior mirror glass away from each of the 4 corners one at a time, and insert a flat-blade screwdriver into the clip slot and release the clip while exerting finger pressure on the exterior mirror cover.
Remove the exterior mirror cover.
Disconnect the turn signal module electrical connector.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Along these lines, we need to replace the mirror assembly on our 2011 Edge. The mirror cover (painted part), itself is fine, it is the lower frame and the glass that are broken. So it would seem to me, even if the used replacement assembly has a different color mirror cover (painted part), we should be able to replace that with the one from our damaged mirror, before we mount the replacement assembly onto the Edge. Does that sound plausible?
FYI, our mirror cover does not have a turn signal as part of it.
