Default Trying to figure out what these two identical boxes are

There are two boxes in the front of the engine compartment near the battery in my 88 Ford F250. They are pictured here one lower and one Higher and they look identical.

Welcome to the site..

They are fuel vapor/charcoal canisters for the fuel tanks, part of the vapor-emission system..

Default Thank you now I have this hose that is connected to those boxes

Seems they should be connected to something else. When I run the engine it sucks air through both ends of this.
