Default Blowing TCM fuse

Good evening. I bought a 2005 five hundred for my granddaughter to go to school. The TCM fuse keeps blowing instantly. At first it would take awhile to blow but now it blows as soon as I turn on the switch. Has anyone else ran into this issue and if so what was the cause. Also it has the 6speed automatic.
Thanks
James Beshears

What switch?
And which exact TCM fuse, what fuse number and how many amp, and where is it located, engine compartment or under the dash?
Any check engine light? Do you have a ford specific scanner to retrieve DTCs?

The fuse is a 10 amp fuse number 40 in the under hood fuse box. It blows as soon as I turn on the ignition switch.

F1.40 shown above, as you can see it's not a dedicated fuse for TCM.

So you mean the fuse blows when key or start button in ON/RUN position or in START position? If it's in START position, can you shift into N gear and START again?
I need to take my dinner will get back later tonight.

Refer to the very last diagram on post # 4 above.

C1118 above, you test only circuit 926, not 296. So you have pin 17, 18, 19, 21 and 22.
Pin 17: the feed so you probably want to skip that.
Pin 18: C1008
Pin 19: C134
Pin 21: C1195
Pin 22: C211
And you suspected there is a short at TCM, so why not by disconnecting C134 just to see if the fuse blows again. If it does, move on to C1008, C1195 and C211. If it doesn't, then you can narrow it down by disconnecting C168 first, then C1160, C141, C142, C171 and C172.
You are to check the entire circuit of 926, LB/OG (light blue / orange) wire. Note that disconnecting connectors might not even work if the short is not at the connector end but somewhere in the middle of the wire harness. So another way to check is to use ohmmeter and locate which part of 926 has the lowest resistance closer to zero. Make sure F40 is blown or else pull it first. Ohmmeter set to 200Ω dial, red to good ground source, black to a particular point of 926 to probe. As long as there is a short somewhere on circuit 926, when you use ohmmeter's black to probe at any point there will be resistance, it's a matter of high or low, so you might even need to change your 200Ω dial next higher Ω.

For locations refer to the following:
C1118 (locate 14290 at 151-1)
C1195 (151-3)
C1008 (locate 14290 at 151-1)
C211 (151-11) -> C410 (151-17) -> C4116 (151-17)
C134 (151-4)
- C142 (151-5)
- C141 (151-4)
- C171 (151-5)
- C172 (151-4)
- C1160 (151-4)
- C168 (151-4)
Location diagrams on next post.
