Default p2544 Transmission Code - Hard Shifts/Stalls Out

My 2005 Ford Five Hundred was in an accident not long ago and a few codes were present afterwards besides the Air Bag. I have fixed all engine related codes besides a P2544 Transmission code.

The accident slightly caused the bumper support to push into the radiator bending it a little. When I shift to reverse from park, it is a very hard shift jerking the car.

What would cause the transmission to throw a P2544 code? Someone said that the transmission cooler could throw this code but I can't see how as long as the lines weren't broken or cracked and fluid still flows through but correct me if I am wrong.

Thank you.

There may be more than one problem present.
Has anyone checked the motor mounts?
It amazes me that a new vehicle can perform flawlessly and then later on it requires a reprogramming. Are these built in failures ? If it is blamed on electronics it might be time to have the electronics parts made here in North America. Reprogramming is what might be required to correct the P2544 code.

I had been working on my car and had a the intake apart but all sensors still plugged in when I would start my car, this was when the code was first thrown, I reinstalled the air filter box and hooked everything back up, now the wrench light is gone and it shifts great but it still says service the transmission? Will I need it reset?

I can't believe doing something so minor can throw a "more serious code". I miss the way cars used to be.
