Brake problems

Don't know what your vehicle has, drum or disc brakes in the rear.
Drum brakes usually have self adjusters that adjust when brakes are applied backing up. If they are frozen or worn the cam arm will just slide over the star wheel instead of rotating it to do the adjustment. Parking brake cables can be adjusted at the parking brake pedal with several applications. Some ,not many, still may have an adjusting yoke where the cables from both rears join the single cable to the parking brake.assy. If that is what your vehicle has ,you just hold the threaded part with a pair of vise grips and turn the nuts clockwise. You should depress the parking brake 2 or 3 clicks and proceed to take up on the adjustment until you feel the wheels stat to drag . Stop there. Now when you release the parking brake , the rear wheels should be free to turn if in neutral with stick shift or auto trans.
