nust bought 2001
Hi everybody.
I just bought my fiance a used 2001 Focus SE Sedan w/ 228k miles on it. Ran a carfax before we bought it and didin't find any major incidents. Just a couple things wrong with it: the lisence plate lamps were busted, bought replacements tonight and I'm going to replace them tomorow, and the door ajar light is always on. I tried slamming all of the doors nice and hard and it's still on. Not a huge problem and we can live with it, but I was just wondering if anybody had had this problem and if there is an easy fix for it.

Another reason for the Ajar light could be a faulty rear door latch. There is a recall on the rear door latches for the 2001 MY Focus. You might want to check with the dealership to verify this was done to your vehicle. When the latch fails, the door will not latch closed.
The Ajar light can also be triggered by the trunk latch. Check the trunk.
Other notes: 2001 Focus A/C system susceptable to leaks. Practically impossible to fix when leak is in the heat exchanger. Refill refridgerant with flourescent coolant next summer in order to locate any leaks next autumn.

No door chime. How do I get in contact with Ford to find out if the previous owner took it in for the recall? Or would that have shown up on the CarFax report if it had been done? I bought it from a Hyundai dealership's used car lot, so I don't think that they will be much help.
Any Ford dealership'sservice departmentshould be able to tell you if the recall was already applied to your vehicle - free of charge. Car Fax is supposed to include service records which should include any recall work done on the vehicle.
