Default 2004 Escape Cruise Control not working

I am desperate for help with my cruise control. My cruise light does not come on and cruise is not working.
I ran the on board cruise diagnostic and it came up with code 3. "deactivator switch failed or bad circuit.
I tested the switch and it is open. Knowing the switch should be closed when the brake is not depressed, I installed a jumper wire and ran the diagnostic again. Still coming up with code 3
I began to test the 2 connector wires. One has power and the other one has nothing and using my ohm meter found no continuity to ground and anything else.
I am at a complete loss as to where to go from here.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Don

Default Escape cruise

Traced red/green wire to the cruise actuator under the hood.
I replaced the cruise actuator electronic box witch sits over the cruise servo motor and solved my problem.
cruise is now working perfectly.
hope this helps someone someday.
