I have a 1997 Ford Aerostar that I was recently getting prepared for it's annual inspection. When I completed oil change, antifreeze flush wiper blades.
the brake lights would not come on. The van started ok signal +park lights worked fine. The problem was it 's stuck in park. Through searching on line I found that it
could possibly be a brake switch. I ordered one proceeded to replace old one and I still have the gearshift stuck in park. Is there a solenoid that maybe causing the problem?
Checking for power at the fuse, as well as power ‘to and through’ the closed brake lamp switch should be checked.. Sometimes the switch harness would break a wire from flexing. If the break lamps don’t illuminate, the shift solenoid won’t have power either..
