Question column gear shift

I'm not sure if any other FORD owners have run into the same problem I am currently dealing with !!!
I have a 1997 Ford Aerostar for some unknown reason the column shifter will not shift out of park. The brake
pedal is pressed the van will actually starts ok .I have since replaced
the brake switch on the column but it has made no change. I think this is some simple fix but I really do not
want to go through buying parts I don't need and time I don't want to spend !! It may have something to do with
wiring i'm not sure. If there is anyone who has a similar experience because i'm sure this is not just to do with
van's? Hope I can get some solid advice In which direction I should go thanks and Merry Christmas everyone!!!!

There is a "Shift Lock" solenoid that is fed by a separate fuse. Might want to start there and check all the fuses.
