That is a warning the emissions system has noticed something bad is taking place with the emission system and should be looked at NOW .!
Aside from poor performance, whatever is taking place can destroy the converter(s) in the exhaust system and this can get very expensive to repair.

Stop by your local auto parts chain. They will read your codes for free and you can go from there.
