Default Need to disable door sensor

When a sliding door is open, the hazard lights on that side of the car turn on, and also the interior lights. I need to disable the sliding door sensor so that even when it is physically open, the car thinks that it's closed. Is there a way to achieve this?

Just curious since you don't mention it...But why would you want/need to? The purpose for the hazard lights coming on when a side door is open is to caution approaching vehicles as somebody may step out of the vehicle (primarily kids pop out from the side doors). The oncoming drivers can see a front door open, but open side doors are harder to see, thus the caution.

Something to think about.
There are instances where it is illegal to disable / alter safety measures/items on vehicles these days and it might be worth a check to prevent a possible citation/summons.

The Freestar is my road trip vehicle. All the back seats have been taken out and my road trip living space is built in there. I spend a lot of time at campgrounds with the side door open for ventilation purposes. It just sucks that the lights always come on when I open the side door.

You should be able to open the doors and leave them open. The BATTERY SAVER system should shut all lights including the mirror indicators off after 10 minutes. Does you Freestar not do this?

I have just purchased a 2006 Ford Freestar specifically for road trips and camping, and the BATTERY SAVER system is not shutting off all the lights even after 20 minutes. This is a drag as I have to open and close the doors when loading and unloading, and I could not leave the doors open to let in air, which made for a stuffy sleep for my husky and I. Any advice would be much appreciated.
