Default Timing questions

I have an 07 freestyle that I put a new timing kit in and thought I had it but it appears that the timing is just barely off. I have the motor pulled again and want to strip It down to timing again. Remove the chains. And do a full reset. Is there any way to pull the chains off and figure out where is exactly correct timing again relative to the crank. Please let me know anything I can do

Welcome to the site..

You can set the chain/ timing to sprockets with a marked link count to sprocket alignment marks..

12 links between I/E cams timing marks (R/L banks)
27 links between cam and crank marks (left bank/drivers)
30 links between cam and crank marks (right bank)
I can send you the illustration if needed...

And I set all of that with the crank set at TDC cylinder one? Because I thought I had all of that correct but it seems when I put it back together it wanted to clatter.
