Fuel problems
I have a 1998 Ford Mustang v6 I’ve been having some fuel pump problems like the car wasn’t getting enough fuel pressure to keep the car running so now I got a new fuel assembly and installed it but know it just cranks and doesn’t start I didn’t install a new fuel filter so I’m thinking maybe it’s that that’s clogged up

We always replace the fuel filter when we replace the pump.
Do you hear the fuel pump run for the approx 2 seconds when you first turn the key on ? If no, check the inertia switch
If yes, next check all the fuses. Even if the filter is restricted , it should allow enough fuel for the engine to start.
We check the fuses because if fuel is getting up to the engine and the injectors have no power to operate, won't start
My next suggestion, remove a spark plug and see if it is wet. If it is, try to lite it with a match. If it burns , OK , if not , could be contaminated with water.
When you remove the fuel filter to replace it, make sure you pull the fuel pump fuse and crank the engine over to relieve the fuel pressure then tip the filter so the contents run out opposite the direction the fuel went in. If a lot of water or junk comes out, let us know and we can go from there.
