okay, this is in my 1963 mercury comet. i do not know what its called and i need a new one, pplease give me the name of it and p[ossible give me a suggestion on where to get one.

I guess I would call it an upper strut mount bracket. I'm not sure of it's exact name, but they would probably know what you mean if you say that with a brief explanation. I would call junk yards, parts stores, and maybe body shops.

I'd concider it a shock tower mount.. Whats the problem with the original?

If they can't help you let me know. There's a junkyard in Jersey (where are you from) that probably has it although I can't find out till next weekend. It's an upper shock mount bracket.
