Default 03 ranger battery light

i need help. i have a 2003 ranger fx4 level 2 and when i accelerate the battery light comes on. it comes on around 45 mph. it feels like it is stahling out and is rapping out at 5500 rpm. it used to only go to 4800. has 60,000 miles on it. just started doing this and i can't figure it out. no check engine light is coming on so no way to tell. hopefully someone can help.

That sounds like the same problem I was having! Just take it to pep boys and have them check your alternator/battery system. Its only like 10 bucks and it will let you know for sure if its the alternator (it was in my case). Also make sure to check your relays and fuses to make sure none blew

AutoZone does tests for free, on or off the truck.

[:@]still[:@]I had my alternator tested and it was bad, so i relpaced it. I also replaced my belt and i checked all wires and conections. The good news is that the battery light isn't coming on anymore. The bad news is that i still have the stahling problem. It is kinda like it just isn't shifting. I will accelerate and the rpm's will go and stay at about 5500. It isn't gaining speed, then i will let of the gas and then accelerate again and it is fine. I have been told that when you replace the altenator, that sometimes you have to give it a few days to let the computer reset itself. I don't know how much i reaaly believe that. If anyone can help me it would be great. I am not a mechanic and i don't know much about it. I have taken it to several shops and no one knows what it is. They all tell me that they can fix it if I want them to run it through a series of tests basically, but that is going to be very $$$$$$$.$$ and i don't know about everyone else, but i am not RICH. So if there is any one out there who can help me, it would be so great. Thank You and have a great day.
