AC Problems with 96 Ranger

AC Problems with 96 Ranger
I am on my third compressor and still have problems. Supposedly the first two leaked
When air temp is 100, new compressor blew 80 degree air at best, progrssively go worse (blew warmer air). Smell of what they tell me is lubricant from compressor.
I had stuck thermometer in the vent so I know what the temperature is. Shop tells me it should blow 50 degree air.
Took it in for service on a 70 degree day, works fine. No smell of lubricant, blows cold air. Shop can't diagnose or find anything wrong
So it appears that it works when I don't need it, when outside air is cool but doesn't work when I need it, when outside air is warm.
So what is wrong and do I have to wait for summer to take it back?

Just a few questions...
1. Have you ever had the system flushed?
2. Why was the first compressor installed?
3. If it was a failure of the original compressor and the system never flushed along with the condensor being replaced (NON-FLUSHABLE), then you still have crud flowing thru the system plugging up the orifice causing loss of lubrication and LOW/NO freon flow. This will causes the next compressor to run HOT and then fail.
4. Has the orifice ever been replaced?
5. Has the accumulator ever been replaced (Should ALWAYS be replaced any time the system is opened)?
6. What are your LOW and HIGH side pressure readings when the system is running along with the ambient outside temperature reading?
7. What has the "SHOP" actually done?
