Default It might start, It might not? 94 4.0 2wd 5-spd

I noticed that if the "Check Engine Light" does not light up when key is turned on, it will NOT start, turns over but wont start. If light comes on, I know it will start. Could this be a relay or sensor going bad? And when it does start, it runs fine and no "Check Engine Light". Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

A faulty EEC relay could cause this problem.

Default EEC tip

Thanks, I will go ahead and try that after work being it is inexpensive. The thing is, as I said, sometimes the light comes on and sometimes it don't so I guess I will only know that it corrected the prob if it never does if again. Or maybe I should wait until it fails to start again and change the EEC at that moment and see if it helps? After it sits a little while, it will eventually start back up. I'm all ears for any other suggestions. Thanks again with the EEC tip.

Smile So far so good Hanky, Thanks

I replaced the EEC relay and turned the key on and off many times with the CEL lighting up every time, so I started it and went for a ride. Stopped and turned key a few times again with good CEL results again. Started it and drove it some more and stopped it and started it a few more times with no more probs so far. Thanks a million Hanky!!! Before I changed the relay, I tried key and CEL lit up the first time. It failed the 2nd and 3rd time and that's when I changed it.
