ranger won't start

Default ranger won't start

ran our 98 ranger out of gas and now it won't start. is there some way to prime the fuel pump?

sounds like you might of sucked up some dirt when you ran out of gas because you dont need to prime them......

try pressing in the valve stem on the fuel rail in the engine compartment and see if any fuel squirts out. Be carful thought and make sure the key is out of the ignition. also do it very fast cause there should be some fuel presure even with the key off, and make sure no ones smoking near you when u do this. Also try checking the fuel shut off valve, they can be sensitive on some vehicles and it could of been triped if you tried pushing the truck to the side of the road.

check the fuse for the fuel pump, it's under the hood, thats what happened to me and i ended up replacing the whole dang fuel system, and all it was, was a stupid fuse, but u can burn out a fuel pump by running it dry, so the pump might be gone as well
