98 ford expedition running lean 1 side only
I been having issues hesitation, jerking, some surging, rough idle when engaged in drive/reverse only , replaced coils, tps sensor, had full tune up, converters were ok, . I had no engine light til today. Had stop to Autozone and computer read rich or lean condition on one engine bank only. possibiliteis of MAf sensor, o2 sensor, ignition misfire, or fuel injection problem. I ran back to the place i got the tune up from. he threw it on their computer and told me it is running lean on one side only which is rare. They couldnt figure out what it is cause of this. Told me to drive it til it acts up more. O2 sensor was only thing that wasnt running up to par. But when he reset the computer a directed. the light didnt come back on. which in most cases he said o2 usually have a engine soon light on. Any ideas. should I just hit up a dealer to deal with this issue. I dont want to ruin anything I just put on the truck. HELP PLEAASE
If it will help put your mind at ease, usually a TPS or MAF sensor will affect both banks not only one.
A malfunctioning o2 sensor can do that and so can a bad fuel injector which is allowing too much fuel to go into one cyl on that bank and the computer(PCM) is trying to compensate for that by leaning out the fuel on that bank. Unfortunately a condition like that does not usually correct itself. You might try to mention that to your technician and he can follow up on the possible cause.
