carb issue
I have had trouble with my 1965 ford f100 starting after its ran and got to operating temp 190. The other day I was looking while someone was cranking and saw excessive fuel coming from the top of the carb underneath the air filter. After looking again and touching where the fuel was coming from the plastic valve vent rod broke. Would a bad valve vent rod be the reason for to much fuel entering the carb and flooding the engine preventing starting the truck after it was warm. I have a new valve vent rod and tension spring on order.
You might want to consider getting a carb ovhl kit. Chances are it will need a new float unless it has a brass float. A new needle and seat should come in the kit with the gaskets also. If the needle valve for controlling float level has not been updated to use unleaded fuel that fuel will raise heck with the neoprene rubber on the end of the needle unless it too is also brass. If a piece of dirt got stuck where the float can't shut off the fuel at the correct level by closing off the needle and seat fuel will just pour into the carburetor. As a temporary measure you might try rapping the inlet line into the carb and it might unstick the needle if it is only stuck.
