Just an update; thereīs no MAF sensor anywhere, Iīve taken one off a donor car but of course thereīs nowhere to plug it in . Strange the carīs been running fine for over a year without one. Iīve tried a replacement fuel pressure regulator-no difference. Also thereīs no engine warning light ( CEL/MIL).

I give up.

Did you buy a Haynes manual or similar? I buy one for any vehicle I have. I am convinced your car has been modified.

If it is as you state, I believe bluewind has made an excellent suggestion and that is do a compression test. That should tell you if there is any type problem with the timing belt and if so whether any damage has been done to the valve train. There are certain basics that need to be done before jumping to conclusions. Let us know what the results are from the compression test.

Thanks again, your comments have been very useful. I īve found out that the later models of fiesta have the MAF sensor replaced by a MAP sensor on the rear of the manifold, so obviously I will be checking that. Still havenīt located the engine temp sensor.
