I wanna lift my 79 ranchero 500 shoud I go suspension or body and what would it take for a suspension lift. Im looking for about 2in a half to 3inch lift just to get it to go offroading in and would like to also make it 4x4 thanks for the help guys.

 

to lift it and make it four wheel drive with its original drive train would be time consuming, i would find a a late 70's truck that has a good drive train but the cab and box aren't very good (cut down on cost with bad box and cab) and put the body of the ranchero on the trucks drive train. The only hard thing would be body mounts.
