Manifold replacement
Just had my manifold replaced at a local exhaust shop, and just found out now they cut the frame to remove the old one and welded the piece back into the frame. Is this a proper way to do it? Without causing problems to my frame? Machanic told me he been doing it for 15 years that way and hasn’t had an issue with doing so. Just seems sketchy to me as everywhere else lifts the engine slightly to remove it not cut pieces of frame out to make room lol
I completely agree with Hayapower.
Not to give you cause for worry, but I would keep a close eye on where the welds are because sometimes welds will crack adjacent to the weld and if it is at a stress point , , lets hope he was a good welder.

yeah they are saying they done it like that for 15 years no issues but ford told me to bring it in they can inspect it and put brackets and a plate on it to prevent it from going out so I asked for a refund from other place
You are in a tough place because they did the job, it works, and now we have to wait to see if they created a different problem..
I don't believe they are going to come up with any refund because they corrected the original problem. We just don't feel comfortable with the means they used.

they said they cut a section of the shock tower to get the manifold out, this is a reputable shop and they are certain it will not be an issue as this machanic does it like that so I’m not sure
