Transfer Case plug issues 91 F250
Hello all,
I've got two issues going on. I have a 91 F250 with what I think is the BW1356 transfer case.
Issue 1: My drain plug is soo stripped that the 3/8 drive just spins freely. I tried a bunch of stuff to get it off, which didn't work and made the stripping worse. What options do I have. Anything I can do without having to weld a socket or bolt to it? If that's my only option, I may need to take it to a shop for the needed equipment.
Issue 2: I need to replace both my fill and drain plugs on that transfer case. Does anyone know what size the plugs are? I can't find original equipment plugs online, but thought I could get some generic plugs if I had the size. I saw this: 1/2 MPT but don't really know what that means or if it's correct.
Thanks everyone!

Since you went this far I presume you have the lube necessary to refill.
I believe what you read is 1/2 in. NPT = National pipe thread.
If you can any auto parts store should have that size plug. So would any hardware dept. If you want to tackle the job yourself , you could as you mentioned with welding a bolt on to the pug or you could drill a hole in the plug, use an easy out to remove the plug . You need to be careful because the case could be an aluminum alloy and might not take kindly to the heat although sometimes the heat will make it easier to remove, hard to tell.
If you feel you are not equipped to handle this , then best to have some one with the tools to do it.
